Call to Action:

Abstract: Join us for an inspiring session where the future of educational design comes to life through the eyes of young innovators. In this presentation, the winning teams of the SchoolsNEXT International Competition will showcase their visionary projects: The Winner of the Award of Excellence: Evergreen High by Thomas Edison High School and 2nd Place Winner of the Award of Distinction, ECO High by Discovery High School. Tasked with designing sustainable and resilient learning environments, these students have seamlessly integrated design excellence with educational innovation. Their projects emphasize the role of research, teamwork, and eco-friendly solutions in creating schools that not only meet today’s educational needs but also prepare students for the challenges of an evolving world. Following the presentations, attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with the students in a Q&A session, gaining deeper insights into the design process and the potential impact of these groundbreaking ideas.

Learning Objectives:

  2. Examine Research-Driven Design Processes: Explore the role of research in guiding design decisions that address the current and future needs of students, communities, and the broader society.
  3. Evaluate the Importance of Collaborative Design: Learn how teamwork and collaboration among diverse group members contributed to the creation of cohesive and effective educational spaces.
  4. Assess the Application of Eco-Friendly Strategies: Gain insights into the eco-friendly design solutions implemented in these projects, and how they contribute to creating resilient, sustainable schools that support long-term environmental and economic sustainability.
