Abstract: To nurture the development of tomorrow’s problem-solvers, creatives, and innovators, barriers between content areas and between school and the real world need to be dissolved. Through the integration of engaging pedagogical overlays like STEAM, immersive learning experiences in the arts, or opportunities for hands-on learning in a variety of professional pathways, students can pursue their passions and build in-demand, future-ready skills. To support the experiences that these approaches to learning require, learning environments need to be designed to align with and enhance pedagogical goals. This session will share insight from three specialized learning environments in Texas and Florida, each offering a different perspective on experiential learning. Farine Elementary, an innovative STEAM and dual-language campus that expands learning beyond the classroom. Cherokee School for Arts and Entertainment, a new public magnet high school, focused on 21st century digital and highly innovative arts programs. And, Adelio Williams Career Institute East, an immersive workforce training facility.
