Creating a Welcoming Culture: Strategies for Inclusivity and Community Building Collaborative Workshop

Abstract: This session focuses on identifying specific challenges and leveraging them to create a more welcoming culture for women and diverse perspectives within the industry. Small groups will brainstorm and outline steps to implement strategies for inclusivity and community building.

Outcome: Develop actionable strategies aimed at fostering a more inclusive and welcoming industry culture, and establish a supportive community network among participants to sustain and amplify these efforts.

These Women in Industry pre-conference sessions aim to empower women in the industry by fostering an inclusive and supportive culture. Participants will engage with female leaders and peers to share experiences, challenges, and strategies for success. Through reflective discussions, attendees will explore how to manage industry challenges and build strong support systems.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Discuss common challenges and strategies: Recognize common challenges faced by women in the industry and explore effective strategies employed by female leaders to overcome these obstacles.
  2. Reflect on personal and professional experiences: Reflect on personal experiences, both positive and negative, and understand different approaches to handling industry-specific challenges.
  3. Understand the importance of support systems: Comprehend the critical role of support systems and networks in personal and professional growth, identifying key individuals who can provide assistance.
  4. Develop actionable inclusivity strategies: Collaborate to create practical, actionable strategies aimed at fostering a more inclusive and welcoming industry culture, and learn to implement these strategies within various organizations.
