Abstract:

This session will highlight the benefits of these strategies for diverse learners, particularly those with moderate to severe disabilities, and advocate for their broader adoption. You’ll leave with practical strategies to create inclusive learning environments that foster student regulation, engagement, and well-being.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the Concept of Dysregulation: Define dysregulation and understand its impact on learning, recognizing the importance of flexible seating in supporting student well-being.
  2. Apply Flexible Furniture Solutions: Discover how to implement flexible seating options tailored to different levels of student activity and engagement, addressing dysregulation effectively.
  3. Explore Design Strategies: Examine architectural and interior design techniques that support diverse student needs through thoughtful use of color, materials, and spatial arrangements.
  4. Evaluate the Impact of Movement on Learning: Gain insights into how movement, the vestibular system, and emotional regulation interact to enhance learning, and how to leverage these insights in educational settings.
