Call to Action:
Leave with actionable insights to transform learning communities into hubs of innovation.

Abstract: In an era of AI disruption, students need more than academic knowledge—they need human skills to thrive. This session explores the power of prosocial learning communities in preparing students for future careers. Discover dynamic instructional practices that integrate cognitive and social-emotional skill development. Engage in dialogue on empowering teacher growth and explore innovative ways to assess student progress beyond traditional metrics.

Learning Objectives:

  1. The Urgency of Change: Future Workforce Realities: Analyze workforce trends driven by AI, automation, and machine learning. Categorize job sectors by risk level and sustainability and determine the critical human skills that will enable students to thrive in careers less susceptible to automation.
  2. Creating a Prosocial Learning Community: Articulate the teacher’s role in fostering a Prosocial Learning Community. Examine how interactive and experiential learning that integrates academic, social, and emotional skills cultivates essential human skills – such as collaboration, communication, and complex problem-solving – preparing students for future careers.
  3. Empowering Educators for Reflection, Growth, and Innovation: Define actionable strategies that empower teachers to take ownership of their professional growth. Identify ways schools can create the time, structures, and culture for meaningful self-reflection – allowing educators to analyze their own practice, recognize areas for growth, and make intentional decisions to enhance student learning.
  4. Redefining Student Success: Measuring What Matters: Evaluate methods for gathering and analyzing data to measure students’ growth in future-ready skills. Explore innovative approaches beyond traditional metrics to assess students’ mastery of competencies essential for success in an unpredictable world.

Under his leadership, Meteor was named one of the Top 50 Best Places to Work in the U.S. in 2023, ranking #33, in recognition of its educational impact and strong company culture.

Bill’s current focus is on developing measured learning environments—dynamic ecosystems that empower teachers to foster more ProSocial, connected learning communities. Before entering the education field, Bill earned his BS in Chemistry from the University of Florida and later completed his MBA. He began his career in chemical manufacturing, R&D, and plant operations, where he was awarded three patents related to silicones in cosmetics. He went on to purchase and lead a family-owned business, setting the foundation for his two-decade commitment to transforming education.

Dr. Page Dettman, ALEP
Dr. Page Dettman, ALEP
Chief Education Evangelist, Meteor Education

Dr. Page Dettmann is passionate about preparing students for success in an unpredictable world. As Meteor Education’s Chief Education Evangelist, she collaborates with district administrators, architects, and design teams to create learning spaces that aren’t just classrooms, but powerful instructional tools – spaces that invite curiosity, spark collaboration, and activate students’ social brains.

She believes learning thrives in ProSocial learning communities where students engage in dialogue, debate, and shared idea-building. In collaborative teams, learners don’t just absorb facts—they wrestle with concepts, challenge assumptions, and construct meaning together. This dynamic exchange deepens understanding, strengthens academic mastery, and builds essential social and emotional intelligence.

As a district executive in Sarasota County, FL, Page led a successful transformation of middle school culture, shifting from traditional instruction to interactive, hands-on learning. She empowered dynamic educator teams to design experiences that integrated academic rigor with social and emotional learning. In these vibrant ProSocial learning communities, students engage in rich conversations, sharpen critical thinking, and learn to navigate the give-and-take of teamwork—all while becoming stronger communicators and problem-solvers.

Page holds a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Management from the University of Oregon, is a certified A4LE Accredited Learning Environment Planner (ALEP), and serves as a faculty member for the international ALEP certification program.
