What are the nine questions you should be asking learners, teachers, parents, grandparents and community leaders? The Heartland Hills XQ Prize Team developed a series of questions to discover what is most relevant about the future of learning in rural and urban communities in America's Heartland. The questions that emerged from the XQ competition became the basis of an emerging and on-going podcast. The podcasts capture the insights of participants in traditional schools, Project Based Learning environments, and in the world of work and community beyond formal education. Our proposed workshop shares the compelling stories from the podcasts; provides opportunities for participants to ask the same questions of one another and to share insights into how these questions can shape meaningful learning experiences around the world.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn why discovering the voice of the community is critical to the success of effective learning environments
  2. Learn how simple, essential questions can promote a deep understanding of the learning in the community
  3. Learn what questions resonate with individuals and communities
  4. Learn strategies you can implement in your next project
